Improving our Economy
Oklahoma needs an economic climate that rewards and incentivizes entrepreneurship and hard work. I regularly represent small businesses and understand that we must eliminate obstacles to business growth. As your State Senator, I will work hard to keep taxes low, reign in the out-of-control workers' compensation system, and reduce bureaucratic requirements imposed on business owners.
Working for Real Tort Reform
As a business lawyer, I have observed the unnecessary and disruptive consequences of plaintiffs hoping to win the litigation lottery. I understand that we need meaningful tort reform to make Tulsa and Oklahoma more competitive. Oklahoma should be a place that fosters and encourages good-paying jobs. Our government should not discourage businesses or cater to trial lawyers.
Promoting our Traditional Values
I believe that every life is precious and will defend our traditional values, including protecting the lives of the unborn. I support proven faith-based programs in our prisons, which make our streets safer by stemming repeat offenders. As your State Senator, I will continue the tough-on-crime approach that I championed while serving on the Tulsa City Council.
Getting Back to the Basics
Government should concentrate on doing the limited number of things that it can do successfully. We need to reduce the bureaucracy that has accumulated over the years and focus on the fundamentals. I am committed to a streamlined-approach to government and making infrastructure a priority and advocating dedicated funding for roads, bridges, and highways.
Improving Education Secures Our Future
Quality education is essential to the success of Oklahoma and our children's future. We need to encourage all forms of education: public, private, and home school. Talented educators should be rewarded through merit-based teacher pay. As a state, we must recognize that families are an essential component of our educational success. I believe that through hard work and emphasis on parent involvement, Oklahoma can drastically improve the national standing of its educational system.
